![]() ![]() IF you switch from another service you get it for like what.6usd for a year? I can't remember. I think Idrive even has some kind of support for hyper-v stuffs, but I never used it. There are work arounds for BB but Idrive just works. As far as I Know BB does not really work with Nas. Idrive would even let me back up IOS and Droid items and even my Nas. BB only seems to work on windows and Mac. I was able to get it to run on ubuntu using the script they have. Idrive was more easy to work with for me. For what its worth I found a lot more folks bitching about Idrive support than I did for BB support. A Quick search on reddit and you will find folks bitching about both though. So far have not had to use BB's support either. I found most of my answers on the interwebs. I think that makes Idrive 0 knowledge and BB not, but I might be wrong there. They let you manage your own encryption keys where as BB requires you to use it to download your data. But both run in the back ground and get the job done. I found BB to be faster in my use as well. I found some folks that tested them on the web First Attempt: Second Attempt: Average:īackblaze Download 0:07:00 0:08:00 0:07:30 It gets the job done but BB seems faster. ![]() I used IDrive for around a year and did not really have to many issues with it. This is all just my opinion and I might be wrong as its been a year since I used Idrive but. Hence, I would love to know your user experiences, and discuss further to know the reality of using these two services. There's a lot more I have to consider, but on paper it seems like IDrive is just inching ahead of backblaze for me (including Android mobile backups), but some parts of it still feel sketchy. So if someone has experience with IDrive's restore functionality, please share. What I really need is the capability of being able to restore everything should a crisis arise. But if it takes time to upload - that's fine. Both seem slow to me, and definitely don't use my full speed. ![]() Speed-wise, I haven't been able to test them properly yet. I'm in India so shipping hard disks is just a huge no, and I have a data cap of 3 TB per month with 200Mbps. Plus, if I lost all my data and needed to restore over 5 TB of data, it would be a monumental task of downloading huge zip files and extracting them appropriately. I deselected an external drive (which already backed up over 100 GB), and it just vanished from backblaze with no explanation thus far. My biggest issue with backblaze so far is an almost complete lack of customizability for a power user - I don't need it to back up everything and the file exclusion list is super problematic. But the 30 file versions in IDrive seems way better than having to pay 8$ a month for Backblaze's 1-year file versions. So, what have your experiences been using these services? What would you recommend for long-term backups, easy restores, and file sharing as well? Please don't recommend any other service or any object storage cloud - I'm not looking for data archival as such. I've been comparing them online as much as I can to understand which one would be best for me, but now I thought I should just test both since Idrive was so cheap and backblaze is only 6$ a month. So I recently got bought Backblaze personal backup + IDrive annual subscription (for just 4$ for 5 TB for 1 year - pretty good starting point). Just make sure to tag the post with the flair and give a little background info/context. On Fridays we'll allow posts that don't normally fit in the usual data-hoarding theme, including posts that would usually be removed by rule 4: “No memes or 'look at this '” ![]()
